June 2026 Local Action Committee

  • South Bronx Unite 128 Lincoln Avenue The Bronx, New York, 10454 United States (map)

In Mott Haven and Port Morris, not only do we lack parks, we also lack the tree canopy to protect us from the harsh summer heat.

At this month's Local Action Committee meeting, we will add native perennials and willows to tree beds in Mott Haven and Port Morris that the NYC Parks Department informed us were unsuitable for trees. This is one phase of our Tree Pit Initiative that we're doing this summer in collaboration with AreshEarth.

We’ll take action together to reclaim tree pits along Lincoln Ave. If you’re ready to get your hands dirty (gloves will be provided), join us.

All tools will be provided, we just need you to show up ready to plant!

No experience is necessary, and food will be provided.

See you there.
