Map of Polluting Facilities Located Along the South Bronx Waterfront

Interactive Map: This interactive map shows polluting facilities located along the Mott Haven-Port Morris waterfront. When looking at this map, it is easy to see just how how much of the waterfront is consumed by pollution on a daily basis. All along the waterfront, polluting facilities taking forms such as waste transfer stations, peak power plants (“peakers”), and home heating oil facilities bring pollution into the South Bronx every day, causing innumerable physical and mental health issues for the people who call Port Morris-Mott Haven home. It is because pollution is so omnipresent and so oppressive in the South Bronx that publicly-accessible green space must be made available along the waterfront: this would help ameliorate pollution-related health issues (from asthma and other respiratory illnesses, to the slowing of cognitive development) for our community.
