South Bronx residents fight for better air quality

Air quality has been an issue for years in New York City. In the South Bronx, asthma rates remain higher than in other boroughs.
A community group says more needs to be done to address pollution and congestion.
At the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard, members of South Bronx Unite are drawing attention to the traffic, trucks, and highways surrounding their community.
Mychal Johnson is the co-founder of the community nonprofit.
“We don’t feel it’s mitigatable when our children are going to the hospital today because they’re sick. People are dying because they can’t breathe. It’s a life-or-death situation.”
