Air Quality
Monitoring

Due to decades of unjust policies that have allowed the siting of polluting infrastructure in Mott Haven and Port Morris, our residents’ health is disproportionately impacted by poor air quality. South Bronx Unite is in the process of deploying and administering 25 air quality sensors throughout the South Bronx so that our community members can access community-driven data and achieve cleaner air.

Extreme
Heat

Extreme heat is one of the deadliest weather-related events in the country and is worsened by the urban heat island effect. This is caused by limited green spaces, excessive pavement and pollution. South Bronx Unite is involved in multiple initiatives, including WeAct’s Extreme Heat Coalition and NYSERDA’s Extreme Heat Community Advisory Panel, advocating for policy solutions through campaigns like the Waterfront Plan and 1% for Parks.
